Diego LeBron is a Senior Business Analyst for a local bank. Transitioned to Pickleball from Tennis where he has been playing for 18 years. Played Division 1 Tennis at Siena College. Originally from Puerto Rico, Diego moved to NY from college and has been living in the area for almost 10 years now. As he transitioned to Pickleball, Diego studied the game extensively and has quickly become one of the top players in the area and is pursuing a Pro career in 2024. With a passion to help and teach others, Diego has been teaching Pickleball and helping players from the beginner level who are looking to learn the game all the way to advanced players who want to improve their play and play tournaments. Diego is a member of USA Pickleball, a certified Instructor via IPTPA (International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association) and will be conducting clinics, Learn 2 Plays, Privates and semi Privates at Xtreme Pickleball.

Lorraine Sheckton is a life long resident of Amsterdam, NY and retired from NYS Department of Taxation & Finance. She learned to play pickleball 10 years ago while vacationing in California. Since then, she has been an active promoter of Pickleball. A USA Pickleball Ambassador for Montgomery County since 2019, she has promoted and taught numerous beginner clinics at Shuttleworth Park in the city of Amsterdam, NY.
Lorraine is currently running the Learn 2 Play program at Xtreme Pickle Amsterdam, where she teaches the basics of Pickleball in a group setting.
Zachary Metzold grew up playing tennis, soccer and basketball. He started playing pickleball in Upstate New York several years ago and then moved to Florida where he has been teaching for the past 2 years. He was the pickleball pro at Fiddlesticks Golf Course last season and plans to continue teaching in Florida during the winter months. Zach recently became a certified Vair Rating Specialist.
He won a gold medal in men's 5.0 in the Punta Gorda Classic, has played in multiple pro events and most recently won the gold medal in 5.0 Mixed Doubles at the U.S. Open Pickleball in Naples.
Zach plans to teach clinics, give private lessons and implement the Vair Rating System here in Upstate New York this summer, and we are thrilled to have him at our club!
Skills and Drills Clinics
These 60 to 90 minute clinics are designed to focus on the technical and tactical elements of the game while developing a key shot or strategy. Recommended for players that have completed a Learn 2 Play, a Pickleball 101 class, or players who have been playing an minimum of 3 months but lack formal instruction.
Pickleball 102
Review the basics: rules, scoring, court positioning. Analysis of grip, stance, footwork, ready position and contact point. Techniques and drills to help improve play in every area on the court
NVZ The art of dinking
Here we will review the rules of the Non Volley Zone (Kitchen). Learn the strategies of dinking, offensive, defensive and cross court. Introduction of shot tolerance and muscle memory.
Serve and Return
In this session we will dive deep into the first two shots of the game. To play you have to be able to serve and or return the ball to your opponent. Focus on footwork, stroke and follow through.
3rd shot drops and drives
Called the hardest shot in the game. We will break it down so its easy to understand and master. What is a drop and when to implement it…and when not to.
Block Shots and resets
Tired of the bangers? Today we will give you the tools to counter the drive shot, reset a fire fight into a dink battle and when to catch your opponent off guard with a soft shot into the kitchen they cant get to, or force a pop up.
Lobs and Overheads
The Lob is without question one of the most effective shots of the game.. And the most dangerous to defend. In the session we will dive into when to use a lob, where to place it how to defend it individually and as a partner. …Overhead, drive or drop??
Transition Zone
Sometimes still referred to as "no mans land".. But as the game has developed play in zone between the base line and NVZ has become critical to master. In this session we will introduce you to offensive and defensive technics to work you way through this zone to the kitchen line.. and when to retreat back giving up the line.
Clinics are held on varying days and times during the week on a rotational basis. A minimum of 3 participants is required with a maximum of 8. If the minimum required participants are not realized 24 hours prior to start time the clinic will be rescheduled. Sign up and pre payment on the XP site is required. Cost of each clinic is $20 pp.
Private and semi-private lessons
For individual players, couples, partners or small groups of up to 4 looking for more personalized instruction. Lessons will concentrate on your individual needs be it stroke mechanics, consistency, accuracy, competitive strategies, or any areas dictated by the player(s).
